WW NY\\'s New Fiber Network\\'s Impact on ISPs and Carriers Packs February BREAKFAST ON BROADWAY
The highly successful February BREAKFAST ON BROADWAY had attendees out in force to hear speakers from Optical Communications Group and ISPnet. A spirited audience asked numerous questions. Initially they concentrated on existing fiber in New York City relative to the new dark fiber network loop tying Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island and New Jersey together and connecting them to the cable heads at the eastern tip of Long Island. Attendees learned how this new route changes the area's telecom dynamic, its technical advantages and how diversity is synonymous to security. The Q and A shifted to ISP network path designs that deliver security and redundancy. Geographical location as a key factor in metro areas was addressed as well. Click here

WW AboveNet Co-hosts Mar. 15 B ON B\\'WAY to Discuss NY Fiber Alternatives to Super Telecoms
BREAKFAST ON BROADWAY hooks up with AboveNet and the Staten Island Economic Development Corp. for the March 15 seminar. The focus is on how to best utilize alternative regional and local network providers, what they offer in diverse routes, services and costs, plus meeting Federal regulations for disaster recovery and network diversity, such as using new fiber paths bypassing Manhattan via Staten Island. The economic opportunities provided by state and municipal government programs dealing with tax breaks, abatements, real estate and business development will be covered by the SIEDC.
